The initial success of bingo operation 888Ladies has helped 888 Holdings record positive financial reports for the first half of 2008, it has been revealed.

According to a statement from the firm, revenue in the opening six months of the year was given a boost by 888Ladies and the other newly released games such as backgammon.

Profit growth of 40 per cent for the Gibraltar-based group contributed to a “very successful” first half, said chief executive officer Gigi Levy.

The addition of bingo, backgammon and other features were said to have had a encouraging effect on the number of people opening accounts with the internet gambling provider.

As the third quarter of the year began, 888 Holdings found itself in a position in line with expectations, Mr Levy added.

Following on from the success of online bingo sites, Foxy Bingo announced recently that it is planning to create mobile bingo games for phone customers.
