Beatles appear on stage together

Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr appeared on stage with each other last Saturday in New York.

The two remaining members of the Beatles were taking part in a concert to raise awareness of The David Lynch Foundation – an organisation that promotes transcendental meditation in schools.

Both musicians support the cause and agreed to sing together in front of the Big Apple audience.

They performed Beatles classic With a Little Help From My Friends much to the appreciation of the large crowd.

Sir Paul was the headline act for the show and it was him who introduced his old band mate.

Describing him by his Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club pseudonym, he said: "At this point we would like to introduce somebody to you who you know, you’ve heard his name.

"He’s going to come out here and play you a little song this joyful night. Ladies and gentlemen: Billy Shears."

Both artists also played solo sets, but their combined effort was the first time they have appeared on stage together since the memorial gig for ex-band mate George Harrison.
