Bingo players in Sheffield are being invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day by taking part in a special wedding-themed evening of numbers game action.
The city’s Mecca Bingo club is staging a fundraising event for the children’s mobility charity Whizz-Kidz and is asking its members to put in a little bit of extra effort before they turn up to play.
Bingo hall manager Sarah Whittaker wants players to turn up in their wedding or bridesmaid dresses for the evening, which will include special charity games and collections.
She explained that most people pay a lot of money for their wedding dress and only wear it once, so this would be a good opportunity for numbers game enthusiasts to put the gowns to good use.
“We wanted to hold a Valentine’s fundraising event with a difference – a room full of brides playing bingo is certain to make an impact,” said Ms Whittaker.
She added: “We’re expecting a bevy of beautiful brides.”
Mecca Bingo‘s Gateshead club is also getting in to the Valentine’s Day spirit by offering players the chance to win a lunch date with its membership manager Mark Dowie.
