An elderly lady from Burke in the US is still a regular bingo caller in her community, it has emerged.

Vergys McCharen, who celebrated her 95th birthday earlier this month, reads out the digits for senior citizens at Burke Centre’s McDonalds twice a week.

According to the Burke Connection, the numbers game enthusiast loves to be able to say she is still in work.

Her daughter, Kay Bailey, who is retired, explained to the newspaper that her mother’s job is the source of much pride.

“She loves saying she’s the only one in the family bringing home a pay-cheque,” Ms Bailey remarked.

People of all ages enjoy playing the numbers game, whether it is taking place in halls across the UK or at the various online bingo sites around.

Christmas promotions are currently being run at most industry portals, including Ladbrokes Bingo and Littlewoods Bingo.
