The organiser of a regular Long Sutton Church Hall bingo event has been commended by a local government worker.
Sutton Bridge councillor Chris Brewis highlighted the good work of Hazel Phillippo, who has been running the numbers game events at the venue for some time now, reports the Spalding Guardian.
Cash raised from the evenings has recently been donated to various good causes in the region.
Mr Brewis told the newspaper: “Many people do a bit to keep the bingos running but without Hazel the whole thing would come to a full stop.”
His comments followed the handing out of £6,500 to organisations across Lincoln and surrounding areas.
Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge Medical Centre and Pilgrim Hospital in Boston were just three of the groups that benefited from the bingo money.
The Bingowinnings.co.uk website states bingo is one of the most popular methods of fundraising in the UK.
