Mecca Bingo in Harlow, Essex, has launched a new fundraising campaign in aid of disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz.
Regulars at the bingo club will raise money for young wheelchair users by bringing any leftover currency from their travels to the venue for donation, the Harlow Herald reports.
Bernie Dullaghan, general manager of Mecca Harlow, told the local newspaper: "Whenever you come back from a summer holiday it always seems like you have a pocket full of leftover foreign coins.
"The banks won’t take them but, until the end of September, we’re accepting any foreign or old coins as a donation for Whizz-Kidz – all money raised will go to deserving kids in the region."
According to the charity, the bingo fans’ donations will go towards the funding of powered and manual wheelchairs for young people.
Earlier this month, bingo players and hall staff in Rushden held a community fundraiser to help local children affected by cancer.
