There are all sorts of different ways that bingo players react after a big windfall, according to a Scottish numbers game caller.

John Mitchell, who works at Aberdeen’s Gala Bingo hall, told his home city’s Press and Journal newspaper that some gamers "jump for joy", but others are so shocked they have to get a taxi home.

Not everyone enjoys the publicity that goes with a bingo victory, he explained.

Seeing how people respond to winning cash is one of the "fun" aspects of being a bingo caller, Mr Mitchell continued.

Explaining his career in the trade, he said that he took on the job in 1990 with the aim of finding something else to do, but enjoyed himself so much that he is still in the same employment 19 years later.

Nikki Marshall, an account executive at Gala Bingo, said last year that bingo callers become important facets of the community they work in.
