Group battles for bingo hall

A preservation group has been established to help keep bingo going in the Crumlin community.

The Dublin region is coming to terms with the local council’s plan to knock down the Star Bingo establishment and replace it with residential and commercial apartments, reports the Irish Herald.

Battling to save bingo in the area, the organisation does not want the authorities to go ahead with the proposals – it wants a civic centre, which will still provide numbers game sessions.

Apparently, the Star Bingo venue is very popular with Crumlin’s older generation and its imminent disappearance will leave a void for those who love to get their eyes down for the game.

In October, the Independent reported news of a unique bingo offering currently available in the Irish capital.

Dublin’s Depaul Trust’s Back Lane hostel apparently provides the numbered ball game for the city’s homeless population, as well as other entertainment.
