British Olympic cycling hero Sir Chris Hoy is set to marry his girlfriend Sarra Kemp next year.
The three-time gold medal winner in Beijing – and four-time Olympic champion during his career – proposed to his other half over the Easter weekend.
No details have been given about the forthcoming wedding, but the Edinburgh pair have initial plans to tie the knot in around 12 months’ time.
Commenting on events following the big proposal, Sir Chris said: "We’re very happy and plan to get married some time next year.
"We had a glass of champagne and met up with Sarra’s mum and dad and my mum and dad when we returned to Edinburgh on Monday."
Fellow sportsman Roger Federer got married to his long-term partner Mirka Vavrinec at the weekend.
Rings were exchanged in the tennis star’s hometown of Basle, Switzerland on Saturday in front of a small crowd consisting of family and close friends.
