Today is Ladies Day at The Grand National festival, which is sure to attract a number of glamorous celebrities.

Footballer’s wife Coleen Rooney will be judging the fashionable clothing on show during the course of the day.

Aintree racecourse in Liverpool is the venue for the event, which comes one day before the main Grand National race.

Some 150,000 people are expected to visit Aintree during the three-day occasion, which got underway yesterday.

Earlier this week, the Liverpool Echo dubbed Ladies Day at the Grand National a rival to fellow racing event Ascot’s perceived "high-impact glamour" title.

According to the newspaper, Aintree’s Ladies Day is one of "the most keenly anticipated days" of the whole Grand National festival.

One of the celebrities spotted at last year’s Grand National weekend was former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison, who is from Liverpool. She was one of the famous faces walking around the grounds ahead of Comply or Die’s victory in the big race.
