A couple from Inverbervie in Aberdeenshire hosted a bingo session to raise money for a local school last night.
Jennifer and Allan Reid led proceedings at the town’s Burgh Hall – bringing in money for Inverbervie pre-school and promoting an environmentally-friendly concept at the same time.
The Mearns Leader reports that Royal Burgh’s new alternative to plastic shopping bags – jute bags – were sold during the course of the evening.
Guests had a choice of purchasing small or large bags, depending on the amount they wished to spend.
Caroll Evans, a fundraiser from the school, explained to the publication: “One of our mums had seen [the bags] elsewhere and suggested we could sell them so we came up with a design and put in an order.”
This comes after bingo was used to raise money in Norfolk recently.
Lynn News reported that a numbers game night was planned to bring in funds for The Skylarks preschool committee in Tilney St Lawrence’s village hall.
