Chris Moyles is in contention to retain his title as the host of the number-one-rated radio breakfast show.

The BBC Radio One DJ is one of the nominees for The Breakfast Show Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards – a prize he won 12 months ago.

Millions of listeners tune into the show every week, making it one of the most popular wake-up calls in the UK.

Since the turn of the year, Moyles has started a new television show – Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night on Channel 4. He was also one of the celebrities who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise cash for Comic Relief last month.

Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty’s Five Live Breakfast, and Radio Clyde’s Bowie @ Breakfast are also in contention for the Sony prize.

Shaun Keaveny on BBC 6 Music and Kiss 100′s Breakfast with Rickie, Melvin & Charlie make up the shortlist, which is for one of the most coveted accolades in the radio industry.
