Jonathan Ross was the worst-dressed male in 2008, according to a new poll by men’s magazine GQ.

Other celebrities in the top five included comedian Russell Brand and Welsh actor and star of new film The Boat That Rocked Rhys Ifans, while they are joined by prime minister Gordon Brown and Kate Moss’ other half Jamie Hince.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson and The Office star Ricky Gervais were included in the top ten list.

Commenting on television chat show host Ross, GQ indicated that some of the clothes he displays on screen could make people cry.

Tony Parsons, one of the publication’s writers, said: "The jokes aren’t funny anymore and neither are the suits."

Ross has recently returned to the BBC after a three-month ban, which was imposed after he left lewd messages on actor Andrew Sachs’ answer-phone during Brand’s BBC Radio Two show.
