Jade Goody and Danny Boyle have been the two most popular celebrities, in terms of web searches, since January.

That is the view of people search engine yasni.co.uk, which has revealed its latest search figures.

Kate Winslet, who recently won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in The Reader, was the third most-searched-for name.

Singer Michael Jackson, who will be entertaining crowds at The O2 Arena this summer, and chat show presenter Jonathan Ross made up the top five.

When all names were considered, yasni.co.uk indicated that it was a politician who topped the charts.

Conservative Party leader David Cameron was the name most people were searching for – taking over from prime minister Gordon Brown at the top of the rankings.

Steffen Ruehl, chief executive officer and co-founder of search engine, said: "[The fact that] Jade Goody, who battled so bravely against cancer, was second in the list of ‘most searched for people’ so far this year is testament to her wish to highlight the disease."
