Bingo turns couple into millionaires
A couple from west Cumbria are soon to make their dreams a reality after winning £1 million on a game of bingo.
Barry and Lynsey Mirehouse hit the jackpot this week by playing Mecca Bingo online, walking away with £1 million in cash, the News & Star reported.
Commenting on the unexpected windfall, Mrs Mirehouse told the regional newspaper: "I don’t know what we are going to do with the winnings, but we’re trying to keep a low profile.
"The news is going to travel fast and people will find out about the win but we are trying to keep it to ourselves for now."
After tying the knot in 2006, the winnings will come as a welcome gift to the husband and wife duo, particularly in the current economic climate where money is tight and jobs are few.
Online bingo has become increasingly popular in recent times, with more younger players using the internet to participate in the game.
