Mobile betting insight offered

Connectivity is important to the development of the mobile betting industry, it has been suggested.

According to editor of EGaming Review Jake Pollard, this is something that should be considered by firms.

Explaining further, Mr Pollard said: “If you’re on the train and get cut off or lose connection for whatever reason … that’s not going to make you inclined to repeat the experience.”

He also stated that the sector could be boosted if more people had better access to mobile phones that offer broadband.

Earlier this year, the industry’s regulatory body the Gambling Commission revealed that there is a “low level” of people who gamble on handsets.

The organisation’s remote gambling study found that 2.4 per cent of those who had gambled up to March 2008 had done so on WAP/internet or SMS services through handsets.

Bingo on mobiles was one of the issues discussed at the recent Fifth Annual Mobile Gaming Summit in London.
