Rain stops play

15/08/2008 15:27:50

Rain stops play Punters always have plenty of hard-luck stories, but one Scottish bingo player had a genuine reason to grumble about a near miss this week.

The numbers game enthusiast was confident of picking up a prize during a game at Gala Bingo in Irvine when the weather intervened.

Heavy rain dislodged roof tiles during a storm and staff feared the structure could be on the verge of collapse, reports the Irvine Herald.

That prompted an evacuation that not everyone was entirely happy about.

One upset player complained to the newspaper: "They did the right thing but it couldn't have come at a worse time for me - I was only waiting on one number!"

The player did at least have their money refunded, as did the other card stampers who were interrupted mid-game.

A grandmother experienced very different emotions at the same venue last month when she picked up a £32,000 National Bingo Game prize.ADNFCR-1782-ID-18734595-ADNFCR
