British number one wins Barnstaple Open Anne Keothavong, who was sponsored by PartyBingo during her run to the second round of Wimbledon earlier this year, has won a tennis title in south-west England.

The British number one female player won the Barnstaple Open at the Tarka Tennis Court in Devon, beating Italian Alberta Brianti in the final.

Her 6-4, 6-2 victory in the $50,000 event came after she entered the tournament as a wildcard at the "last minute".

Commenting on her opponent, Keothavong said: "Alberta was a fantastic opponent and played some great tennis, but I feel I perhaps was the stronger player today."

She added that it was her first time in Barnstaple and she had "really enjoyed" her time there.

LTA head coach of women's tennis Nigel Sears claimed that the Briton had to beat a competitive field to take the title.

Keothavong's relationship with PartyBingo in the summer resulted in her writing to the bingo site after her Wimbledon was over.

She thanked the portal for its sponsorship and said that she hoped the site's members enjoyed watching her play.
