Actor Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland in Coronation Street, has become a father.
The ITV website reports that he and his wife have a new member of the family - and he has been named Thomas.
Speaking for the cast of the popular ITV1 soap, an unnamed representative from the show said: "Everyone is delighted and wishes them all the best."
It would appear that having a baby is en vogue on the streets of Weatherfield at present, with a number of other cast members expecting new arrivals.
Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, is pregnant at the moment, while the other halves of Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) and Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) are also expecting babies.
This newborn news comes as Corrie old-timer Reg Holdsworth, played by Ken Morley, could be set for a comeback.
Mr Morley told the Associated Press that he would like to make a reappearance during the show's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2010.
