Annan Athletic skipper played bingo A Scottish footballer played bingo at the weekend - and enjoyed the numbers game session.

Scottish League Three team Annan Athletic's captain Chris Jardine used his blog on the BBC Sport website to explain his bingo experience.

He said that he was surprised at how much fun he had after getting his eyes down for the popular pastime.

"I never realised that a game of bingo could be so hilarious - yes you have all read that correctly, I said bingo," he explained.

Jardine is not the first footballer to have been associated with the numbered-ball game, which is played at bingo halls and online throughout the UK.

Middlesbrough's England Under-21 defender David Wheater is a fan, while Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo admitted this year that he enjoys the game.

Football commentator and radio DJ Colin Murray also revealed on BBC Radio Five Live that he tried bingo in the summer and found it difficult to keep up with the action as it was so quick.
